Steps
- Go to the Google Takeout site and sign in using your Edmonds College email credentials (student or employee)
- Select the items you would like to back up (Select All or individual Google Products). IT recommends backing up at a minimum Mail, Drive, Sites, Photos, Calendar, and Contacts.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the Next Step button
- Choose your preferred delivery method, frequency, and preferred exported file type and size. If you are unsure, keep the default settings of send download via email, export once, .zip, and 2gb file size, and then select on Create Export
- You will see a confirmation message. Depending on how much data you are backing up, the process can take hours or days to complete. You will receive an email when your export has been completed
- When the process is complete, you should receive a total of two emails from Google.
- Open the email with the subject title “Your Google Data is ready to download” and then select “Download your files”. Your archive backup is only available for seven days on Google’s servers so you will need to download this file within this timeframe (7 days)
- Success! You have successfully backed up and downloaded your Google Account
