How to Access and Install Microsoft Office 365 (Students)

Before You Begin

This tutorial will guide you through the process of accessing Microsoft Office 365 and installing it on your computer. Office 365 for students is available for both Windows and Mac users.  You can also follow along through the accessible photo-guide here: How to Access and Install Microsoft 365 (Students)

  • You must be enrolled in the current Quarter 
  • You must have your Triton Account activated (Know your TritonID and Password)

Steps

Access Microsoft 365

  1. Open your preferred web browser and navigate to the Microsoft Office website.
  2.  Select the Sign In button, located right below the Welcome message
  3. Enter your full Triton (Student) email address, your current Triton Email password, and then select Sign In
  4. Success! You are now signed in. Continue to the next page for instructions on how to install Microsoft 365.

Install Microsoft 365

  1. Select the “Apps” option on the left side panel
  2. Select the Install Apps dropdown menu on the top right-corner and select Microsoft 365 apps
  3. You will be redirected to “My account”, select “Install Office.” 
  4. An installer file will be downloaded to your computer. Locate the installer file named OfficeSetup.exe (Mac Users: OfficeSetup.dmg) and open it
  5. The office will begin installing on your computer
  6. Once Office has completed its installation, you may close the window and review the newly installed applications by selecting the Start Button or Finder (for Mac Users) 
  7. Open Microsoft Word (Or any other Microsoft 365 application) 
  8. You may be prompted to sign in again. Select “Sign in or create account” and sign in with your Triton Account credentials as above, to use the same credentials in all Microsoft 365 applications, select Yes
  9. Success! Microsoft 365 is now ready to use
