Troubleshooting
Meeting OWL Pro
Most issues are resolved by power cycling the Meeting Owl. Once restarted, it will be ready in under a minute
Powercycling/ Restart/ unplug-plug back in
In MLD 228
- Unplug from the middle of the cord, in the cubby of the teacher lectern
Other Classrooms
- In all OWL rooms, unplug the round plug from the base of the OWL
Other OWL Troubleshooting
You can't hear Zoomers (No Audio from OWL)
- Check the PC volume level that it’s set above 0
- Set the adio output (spearkers) to the Meeting OWL Pro. Do this both in the PC settings AND your video conference platform settings
- If this does not solve the issue, leave the meeting and come back in.
- If that still doesn't work, powercycle the OWL
Zoomers cannot hear you
- Set the audio input (microphone) setting to the Meeting OWL PRO on your video conference platform
- If this does not solve the issue, leave the meeting and come back in.
- If that still does not work, powercycle the OWL
Camera failed/ not detected
- Powercycle the Meeting OWL
Logitech Rally Troubleshooting
Unlike the Meeting Owl, our Rally camera cannot be easily power cycled. If the following fixes don’t work, submit an IT Support Ticket, and a member of IT will manually reset the device as soon as they are able (this may not allow for an immediate resolution).
You can't hear Zoomers
- Check the PC volume level that it’s set above 0
- Set the audio output (speakers) to the Logitech Rally. Do this on both the PC settings and your video conference platform settings
- If this does not solve the issue, leave the meeting and come back in. If that still does not work, submit an IT Support Ticket
Zoomers cannot hear you
- Set the audio input (microphone) setting to the Logitech Rally on your video conference platform
- If this does not solve the issue, leave the meeting and come back in. If that still does not work, submit an IT Support Ticket
Camera failed/not detected
- Submit an IT Support Ticket
Blurry Camera Image
- Zoom in using the remote control; see if the camera focuses at any point
- Submit an IT Support Ticket
Instructor Podium Computer Troubleshooting
Make sure that the computer is turned on. Some instructors accidentally shut down the computer after the course, or some technology issues can cause the computers to shut down. Push the power button on the computer to make sure the computer is on.
Podium computer is not powering on
- Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds until it powers on.
Podium computer is running slowly
- Close as many unneeded programs and browser tabs as possible
- Note: If the computer consistently runs slowly, submit an IT Support Ticket
Whiteboard Camera Troubleshooting
If the whiteboard camera is not functioning properly, check to make sure that everything **outside* of the camera is properly set up to support the device (classroom lights are on; markers are dark colors; Owl whiteboard camera tiles, if applicable, are placed within the field of view). If addressing potential problems outside of the camera doesn’t resolve the issue, submit an* IT Support Ticket, and a member of IT will manually reset the device as soon as they are able (this may not allow for an immediate resolution).
Wall Mounted Television (Zoomer Screen)
This screen is designated for displaying online participants from your desired video conference platform. It is connected to the PC via an HDMI extender.
Television is not powering on
- Confirm the TV is plugged in – the LED indicator should be red when it’s off
- Remote batteries may be dead. Power on the TV manually by pressing the power button on the bottom middle of the TV
Television says: "Source not detected"
- Confirm cables are securely connected on the TV and on the PC
- Power cycle the TV and HDMI extender box on the back of the TV (unplug and plug back in). To do this, locate the HDMI extender that’s connected to the PC. It’s labeled StarTech. Unplug and plug back in the USB cable that’s part of that HDMI extender box.
Additional Troubleshooting
If you have trouble with other technology in the room, please submit an IT Support Ticket and/or contact Katrina Lefrancois-Hanson
Note for Troubleshooting FL Technology Rooms
For any of the advanced (full technology) rooms, if any of the "extra" components (such as the whiteboard camera or the Zoomer screen) are not working, follow the troubleshooting tips below. However, if they don't work, the classroom can run as just a "basic" setup as long as the camera (OWL, Rally) and the classroom computer are working.
