How to Share Screen on a Mac

Before You Begin

This tutorial will guide you through sharing your screen on a Mac. It uses Zoom as an example, but the steps will be very similar for any other collaboration platform. You can also follow along through the accessible photo guide here: How to Share Screen on a Mac

  • The Privacy settings only need to be changed once. If you have already completed this step or are not prompted to update the settings, you may disregard it.

Steps

Sharing Screen 

  1. Select the Share Screen button in the Zoom toolbar
  2. Select Desktop 1 and select Share (Please note that the Meeting Host needs to allow others to share their screen)

Privacy Settings to Share Screen 

  1. If you are asked to allow Zoom to share your screen, select System Preferences
  2. In Settings> Screen Recording, make sure the slicer is ON for Zoom (or any other platforms you wish to be able to share your screen on)
  3. You may get a warning to restart Zoom. Choose “Later” to avoid disconnection
  4. Success! Return to your Zoom meeting, and you will be able to share your screen
