How to Clear Internet Browser History
Before You Begin
This document includes instructions on how to clear your browser's history. If you are experiencing loading issues or page errors with ctcLink, Canvas, or other websites, it is first recommended to clear the Internet browser history. This removes any old data that may be causing issues on certain web pages. You can also follow along through the accessible photo guide here: How to Clear Internet Browser History
- Be sure to save any online work BEFORE following this process. You will automatically be signed out of your accounts and will need to log back in again. Failure to do so will result in the loss of progress on online work.
Steps
Google Chrome

- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More.
- Hover your mouse over More tools > and select Clear browsing data…
- A new page and pop-up will open. From the Time range drop-down menu, select All time.
- Check the boxes for the info you want Chrome to clear. It’s recommended to clear Browsing history, cookies, and other site data, and Cached images and files. Learn more about the types of browsing data you can delete
- Select Clear Data
Mozilla Firefox

- Click on the menu button to open the menu panel
- Click on History
- Select Clear recent history…
- A pop-up will appear. Set Time range to clear: to Everything and check all options under History.
- Click the OK button. The window will close, and the items you've selected will be cleared from your history.
Safari

- In the Safari app on your Mac, choose History > Clear History, then click the pop-up menu.
- Choose how far back you want your browsing history cleared. We recommend selecting all history.
- Click on Clear History
Microsoft Edge

- Select Settings and more > Settings
- Select Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll down. Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
- Choose a time range from the Time range drop-down menu. We recommend choosing All time
- Choose the types of data you want to clear. For example, you may want to remove browsing history and cookies but keep passwords and form fill data. We recommend choosing Browsing history, Download history, Cookies and other site data, Cached images and files
- Select Clear now.
