Troubleshooting Printing Problems

Review the following article to learn how to troubleshoot printing problems. Before troubleshooting, the basic troubleshooting we recommend includes:

  • Restart the printer
    1. Locate the power button or switch on the printer
    2. Power the printer off, wait a few seconds and power it back on
  • Remove and re-add the printer to your computer
    1. Open Windows Settings
    2. Select Devices
    3. On the left, select Printers & scanners
    4. Locate the printer you are troubleshooting and click on it
    5. Select Remove device
    6. Once removed, proceed to the Search bar on the bottom left of the screen
    7. Type in: \printers
    8. Press Enter
    9. The list of campus printers will appear. Locate and double-click on the designated printer
    10. After a few moments, you will be connected to the printer and you may try to print again
