How to Update a Chromebook

Before You Begin

  • Edmonds College-issued Chromebooks will utilize your student/employee email credentials to log in

Steps

  1. In the bottom-right corner of the screen, select the time, then click the Settings icon. (The location of the Settings icon may vary depending on your device version.) 
  2. Scroll down the menu list and select “About Chrome OS.”
  3. You'll see which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook is using. Click on Check for updates. If updates are available, you may need to restart the device to finalize the update. 
  4. Success! If a software update is available, your Chromebook will begin downloading it automatically. Once the download is complete, you may be prompted to restart your device.
