How to Search the Academic Catalog

Before You Begin

This tutorial will guide you through navigating the academic catalog and adding subjects of interest to your academic planner. You can also follow along through the accessible photo guide here: How to Search the Academic Catalog

  • You will need access to your ctcLink Account to complete this tutorial.

Steps

  1. Go to Class Search 
  2. Select “Login” in the bottom left corner
  3. You will be prompted to log in to ctcLink. Follow the prompts to log in
  4. Once logged in, select Class Information, then select the option that best aligns with what you want to do:
    1. Class Search: Best suited for class-specific searches (You may utilize a variety of class filters to find the class you need)
    2. Browse Classes: Best suited for finding classes based on Quarter availability and subject only
    3. Course Catalog: Best suited if you want to explore all available subjects and classes

Navigate using Class Search 

  1. You can filter your search with any of the following parameters:
    1. Term (Quarter) 
    2. Instruction Mode (Flexible, hybrid, etc.) 
    3. Academic Organization (e.g, Accounting, Computer Science, etc.)
    4. Subject
    5. Catalog (Class number) 
    6. Keyword
    7. Instructor's last name 
    8. Start, End Time, and Days
    9. Course attribute and course attribute value (e.g., Humanities Distribution)
  2. A list of associated classes will display. You may select the arrow to display all available class information 
  3. You can share, add to cart, or enroll from this page. You can also see Course Materials and Class location information

Navigate using Browse Classes

  1. You can filter classes with the following parameters: 
    1. Select a term (Quarter) 
    2. Career 
    3. Subject 
  2. Select “View Sections” for your desired class 
  3. A list of associated classes will display. You may select the arrow to display all available class information 
  4. You can share, see class deadlines, add to cart, and enroll. You can also see the class location and course materials.

Navigate using Course Catalog

  1. You will now see a list of Subject families offered at the college. Select “View Courses” for more information
  2. You will now see the associated classes of your selected subject
  3. You may click on the arrow to open any class(es) of your choice for more information. 
  4. You can share, add to cart, or enroll from this page. You can also see Course Materials and Class location information
  5. Success! You now know how to navigate the academic calendar
