Which Multi-factor authentication (MFA) do I use & When?
Okta MFA (Triton Access)
Use this when:
- You’re signing in to Triton Access (Okta) for campus systems protected by Okta.
- You perform account changes in Okta: Edit Profile, add/remove Security Methods, self-service password reset/unlock, or any step-up verification prompt.
- You open an app from the Triton Access dashboard.
- Connecting to the Virtual Computer Lab or launching apps via Triton Access (Okta)
Gmail MFA (Google Workspace 2-Step Verification) - *employees only*
Use this when:
- You’re signing in at accounts.google.com (Examples: Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Meet, etc.). NOTE: May not show if already signed in; commonly appears on a new device/location, incognito, or after a long gap.
- See a Google login/verification screen or a Google Prompt on your device.
- You choose “Sign in with Google” on another website or app. (Examples: Zoom, Smartsheet, or other apps using “Sign in with Google”).
